In a landmark decision, the Sindh Ombudsman has ordered the removal of K-Electric Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Moonis Alvi from his position after finding him guilty of harassing a female employee. The verdict was issued by Justice (R) Shahnawaz Tariq, the Sindh Ombudsman, who also imposed a fine of Rs. 2.5 million on Alvi.
According to the official order, the CEO was found guilty of subjecting the complainant to harassment and causing her significant psychological distress. The Ombudsman directed that Moonis Alvi must pay the fine within one month.
In a strongly worded decision, Justice (R) Tariq warned that failure to pay the fine would result in the seizure of Alvi’s movable and immovable assets. Furthermore, if he fails to comply, his National Identity Card (CNIC) and passport may also be blocked by the relevant authorities.
The decision marks one of the most high-profile accountability actions in Pakistan’s corporate sector and sets a precedent for workplace harassment cases involving senior executives.
